Eleanor is the founder of Grey Genetics and a board-certified genetic counselor with over a decade of clinical experience. She started her career at a public hospital OBGYN clinic providing genetic counseling in English and Spanish, primarily for prenatal indications. She then joined the Center for Advanced Digestive Care at Weill Cornell Medicine in Manhattan, where she provided genetic counseling for hereditary GI cancer syndromes. She spent three years at Myriad Genetics, the first laboratory to commercialize genetic testing for the BRCA genes, and trained in cardiovascular genetics at Phosphorus, a Manhattan-based genomics startup. Since founding Grey Genetics, she has also provided genetic counseling to patients at risk for Early-Onset Alzheimer’s Disease and has provided genetic counseling for patients enrolled in several different neurogenetics research studies.

Her Master’s thesis focused on heuristics: cognitive shortcuts that impact decision making and their relevance to genetic counseling. Patient narratives, family dynamics and psychosocial issues are what drew Eleanor to genetic counseling initially and brought her back to working directly with patients again.

Eleanor is a former Treasurer of the New York State Genetics Task Force. She has served on the Admissions Committee for the Joan H. Marks Graduate Program in Human Genetics at Sarah Lawrence College, where she was also a Thesis Advisor. She grew up in Olympia, WA as one of five siblings and lives in Brooklyn, NY with her husband and son.
