B.A., Biology (Biochemistry minor), Augustana College, 2007

Kathryn earned her MS in Genetic Counseling from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in 2009 and is board certified. She began her career in Chicago, where she helped build a cancer and GI high-risk clinic and established a high-risk GI clinic at a VA Medical Center. Her efforts led to the implementation of universal tumor testing for Lynch syndrome — a process through pathology to identify features in a tumor or polyp suggestive of Lynch syndrome that highlights patients who may benefit from genetic counseling and testing.

In 2013, she moved to Northern California to launch a cancer genetics program at a community hospital, focusing on patient care, provider education, and founding a GI tumor board. In 2014, she transitioned to an academic center in Houston, where she developed, branded, and managed the Cancer Risk Genetics Program at UTHealth/Memorial Hermann Hospital, helped establish the High-Risk Pancreatic Screening Program at UTHealth, and implemented universal tumor testing across the multi-hospital system of Memorial Hermann.

Relocating to Illinois in 2019, Kathryn remains active in the genetics community. Alongside her work with the Grey Genetics Network, she served as a Senior Research Genetic Counselor at the Center for Genomic Interpretation (CGI). She has also broadened her scope into market access in the industry side of genetics, focusing on medical policy review and interpretation, appeals, and improved access to molecular profiling for advanced cancer patients.

Kathryn is an active member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors, participating in the Cancer, Industry, Leadership/Management, and Precision Medicine SIGs. She served on the Research Committee of the CGA-IGC and led the creation of the Global Pancreatic Cancer Surveillance Resource. She has also been involved with the Hereditary Colon Cancer Foundation, serving as a Medical Advisor (2012–2021). Outside of work, she enjoys time with family and friends, painting, climbing, and hiking.

My goal is to deliver personalized, comprehensive care by addressing each patient’s questions, tailoring risk assessments, and developing care plans based on their unique personal, family, and genetic history — because the most important person in the appointment is you.
