About Leslie
Leslie graduated from the University of Toronto with her MSc in Genetic Counselling in 2014 and has since worked extensively in the area of pediatric disability and clinical research. She is now an Associate Teaching Professor and the Assistant Program Director of the genetic counseling master’s program at Boise State University, while continuing to be involved in research and clinical work. She is an active member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors and currently sits on the research ethics board at the largest pediatric hospital in Canada.
Leslie has a special interest in psychiatric and mental health genetics — an area where genetic testing is often oversold and where careful, nuanced counseling is especially important. She also has extensive experience helping individuals and families understand the results of consumer-initiated genetic testing.
