Episode 8 RARE DISEASE

Defying Cystic Fibrosis One Mountain at a Time

with Sophie Grace Holmes

Sophie Grace Holmes was born with Classic Cystic Fibrosis. When she was 19, a doctor told her she was going to die within a few years. She set out to prove him wrong. Sophie quit her office job and reorganized her life around fitness and challenge—completing a 100k race, summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mont Blanc, and becoming a fitness model, trainer, massage therapist, and motivational speaker. In this early-season episode, Sophie shares her philosophy on living fully with a serious genetic condition, and how she refuses to let CF define what is possible for her.

Note: Sophie returned in Episode 81 in April 2024, when she ran the London Marathon as the first of 36 marathons in 36 days. This is her original 2018 interview.
